Quiet Storm Biography DJ QUIET STORM (London/UK) Storming Productions / Dub Police A London native, Quiet Storm has been following his passion for music and honing his talents for more than ten years. He has mastered the art and proven his remixing abilities to some of the UK's dance music industry's most critical ears. With just over a decade of experience behind the turntables, Quiet Storm has played at just about every one of the UK's premier underground events. London's legendary Forward and Destructive nights have to be highlights; regular bookings at Cyberfunk's 'Breaks & Morta' night, as well as holding a residency at Rinse Sessions have paved the way for Quiet Storm's busy schedule. Quiet's memorable sets at the Breakspoll Awards 2006 and at Hotflush's renowned Primal event have seen him develop a faithful following. Establishing a residency on London's renowned Rinse FM, not too mention a slot on Breaks FM, have put him well and truly on the map. Regular guest slots on both BBC Radio One and 1Xtra have seen Quiet mix it with the top names, and have caused the heads to take note- as a DJ, no one can question Quiet's professionalism, talent and versatility; whether he's dropping tracks woven with dark and mysterious beats , or charging up the dance floor with rolling beats backed with tuff grooves, he intuitively works a room with his creative mixing and programming style, playing cutting edge music for a true party! With a successful DJ career Quiet Storm took a major step in early 2004. With the view of creating a bona fide group of imprints to spread the UK underground sound worldwide, Storming Productions was born. In his own words: ".....the Idea of Storming is basically to put out good quality music for people to actually go and buy rather than listen to it on a dub for years. You can't have a scene without record releases and sales; it's as simple as that. I always wanted to push boundaries and I aint scared to do that with Storming. It's not about having a predictable release every time round, the scene is way too raw for that." It's only one year young but already holds the quality and respect that any long term focused label is aiming towards. Storming Productions have taken influences from many of the UK's scenes and labels; think Soul>>Jah, Texture and Renegade Hardware all rolled into one! Storming Productions up to date has introduced tracks from the undergrounds' leading names. Darqwan, DJ Narrows, Dubchild, Mark One, Search & Destroy and Toastyboy all have stepped up, and with Bogeyman (aka Twisted Individual), DJ Distance, N-Type and Vex'd to follow on forthcoming releases the future looks very bright indeed. Dubstep is part of the UK sound currently spreading throughout the world, the bass heavy dubbed out sounds have undoubtedly left their mark on DJ's, producers and punters alike. In mid 2005 Quiet Storm launched Dub Police, a label to focus on releasing the South London inspired sub bass sounds. Producer L-Wiz, Sweden's finest, and the first international signing were first of the rank. The initial release, a heavy 3 tracker, containing the smash 'Egypic' sold out within weeks. The next artist to feature on the label will be Quiet Storm himself under his alias Caspa. Caspa dubs, most noticeably 'For the Kids' & 'Homesick' have been on high rotation with all the top DJ's for the past year, not to mention getting drawn of Rinse FM continually. 2006 will see many of Caspa's sought after productions hit the street, some rumored now to have vocal VIP mixes featuring some of London's hottest lyricists. With the success of the Quiet's first
two label projects labels, he has now joined forces with Search &
Destroy on a label project catering for gritty half step business,
entitled Pitch Black, which will launch in mid 2006 with a busy release
schedule. If that's not enough, mid 2006 will also see him take the
reigns at the helm of DJ Narrows' ANKH label. Big things and busy times
ahead, believe! Quiet Storm Australian Tour June 2006 Dub Wize feat. Quiet Storm (UK) |
